It feels like I have been painting forever, but it has actually been close to 50 (!) years.
As primarily a self-taught artist, my style and subject matter have varied considerably over the years. I started off in the commercial sign business, back when things were done almost entirely by hand, and because I had the ability to draw well, that was a good fit at the time. From there, I became increasingly interested in fine art, particularly painting, and the journey began.
While I have never been a “plein aire”artist, some of the images shown here might reflect that (I work from photos, drawings, and memory). I have worked in many different physical conditions and environments, rarely ideal, and sometimes barely workable (bad light, tight spaces, outside with my canvas pinned to the back fence), but through it all, my passion and desire to learn and move forward only grew stronger. An ever-expanding art library, along with probably hundreds of museum and gallery visits, lectures and demonstrations were my experience and “schooling”, and it remains that way to this day.
The pieces shown here on this site represent some of the results, mostly executed over the past fifteen or so years and are but a small number of examples.
I hope you enjoy them.
